Welcome to Fallsburg Fishing & Boating Club
News for Pleasure Lake Members
Announcements (August 21, 2022)
The 2022 Summer Season has been terrific ...
water quality is still clear and terrific...
and there is still so much summer and fall to enjoy!
The Pleasure Lake Sailboat Race has been moved one day to Sunday, August 21st beginning at noon.
The Pleasure Lake Rowing Club joined our Rowing Regatta fun yesterday with an exhibition race of a 4 person crew boat against two recreational single sculling boats. It is so great to see lots of interest from members in learning about this great sport and having the opportunity to row together on Pleasure Lake.
Our first kayak race was also held and we look forward to seeing this grow with lots of participants around the lake.
Call To 2022 Annual Meeting - September 4, 2022:
Thanks to all members of the Fallsburg Fishing & Boating Club for a great Summer Season
CALL TO ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Fallsburg Fishing & Boating Club, Inc. will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at the Clubhouse; for those who are not feeling well or are unable to join us, proxies will be accepted if carried by another member in good standing or submitted in advance by email to be carried by a Board member. The items that are to come before the meeting are posted on the Member Documents section of this website, along with the official Call document and the draft minutes from our Semi-Annual Meeting held in May. :
Our 35th Annual Kids' Fishing Contest was held on Saturday July 9, 2022. Thanks so much to Ken Lang for all his work organizing this and to Claire and Steve Schneider for all their work throughout the 35 years of this great event. After a great morning of fishing, a BBQ and awards ceremony was held at the Clubhouse.
This 35th year was an alumni year when Pleasure Lake kids and all alumni who fished in prior contests were welcome to compete.
THE DAY CONCLUDED WITH ANOTHER AMAZING FIREWORKS DISPLAY ON THE EVENING OF JULY 9th. WAY TO GO MICK AND ALL HIS GREAT TEAM. THANKS ALSO TO THE TOWN OF FALLSBURG FOR APPROVING OUR PERMIT - AND A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OUR MEMBERS FOR REFRAINING FROM LIGHTING FIREWORKS AT ANY OTHER TIME (including July 4th weekend) -
WE ARE HAPPY TO ALLOW THE PROFESSIONALS TO DO IT SO WE ALL COULD ENJOY THE SHOW SAFELY!
The Board has been working with Thompson Sanitation to increase our service frequency as well as to replace our dumpster to provide a larger capacity. It looks like we are now in good shape.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PATIENCE!
Our recycling is now a single stream system, so all cans, bottles and FLATTENED cardboard go in the same smaller dumpster for pickup and sorting at the Thompson facility. Keep doing a great job!
Please stay vigilant - the Lake remains clear and in excellent shape, but warm weather conditions in the summer can set up lakes around NYS for the “bad” algae to collect into a HAB (harmful algal bloom). Be especially careful with dogs and children if you spot a HAB condition. We will continue to watch, but please use caution as HABs often move around depending on wind and other conditions. Our frequent testing gives us good & timely information, but we all need to stay vigilant.
Thanks so much to Bill V and Mick M & our caretaker Jim R for their hard work keeping our water levels where they need to be and for ensuring that our dam remains safe and well maintained! New dam boards are in place and our 10 year engineering study for the dam is currently underway.
Enjoy the summer everyone!
Our Annual Membership Meeting will be in person at the Clubhouse on Sunday morning, September 4th at 9:30 a.m.
Check the Member Documents password protected page for more info.

Fines will return:
All members should ensure that your road ditch is clear and water can run freely – this is critical to keep our roads in good shape at this time. Please note that Members who fail to do so will be fined.
Note that information on events and latest news, forms and updates are regularly posted here on our web site.
Members and family may also join our FaceBook Pleasure Lake Group for timely news updates, event reminders, photos, social messages and neighborhood items of interest. Request to join at:
The dumpster is open and is for members' household garbage only. Please do not place any items near the dumpster (no BBQs, boats, chairs etc). Please continue to separate your recyclables and PLEASE BREAK DOWN CARDBOARD BOXES!
Please remember that our cameras at the dumpster are operational and fines will be imposed for any improper dumping.
We are so thankful for all of our members and the efforts they have taken throughout the Coronavirus emergency to keep everyone (and our neighbors) safe.
Kindly note that our treasurer information has changed. If you need to contact her or have not yet received a notice from her, please let us know and we will provide the contact information. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during the treasurer transition.
More news and updates are shared periodically in membership emails, on the Events tab of this website and on our Facebook Group Page.
Keep up the good work everyone!
As always, it is important to remind everyone to
stay safe and use common sense since road conditions are constantly changing.
Avoid soft areas during and after storm events.
Parking areas at the yellow gate and at the clubhouse are always open for your use.
Please be sure that all docks and boats are properly secured so that they do not break free during storm events, etc.
House Rule AW (Amended)
As part of our ongoing efforts to preserve the Pleasure Lake watershed, and at the direction of the membership at the Club's Annual Meeting on September 2, 2018, the Board of Directors has amended House Rule AW (effective 1/1/2019):
“A new member land preservation assessment fee of $3,000 will be collected from every new member to the Club upon any transfer of a share except a transfer between spouses or between a parent and a child where no consideration is exchanged. Revenues from the new member land preservation assessment fee shall be deposited in the Club’s Land Purchase Fund. Such assessment fee shall apply to any transfer of shares occurring on or after January 1, 2019. The purpose of this assessment is to assist with the funding plan to preserve Pleasure Lake and its surrounding watershed. The Club’s Land Purchase Fund has been established to help fund acquisitions of interests or rights in real property for the preservation of Pleasure Lake’s watershed, including preservation of open space, brooks or streams flowing into the lake and preservation of forested lands surrounding Pleasure Lake. (Amended 09/18/2018)”
PLEASE BE SURE ALL USED BOATS UTILIZE THE NEW
CLEANING STATION AT THE CLUBHOUSE BEFORE
THEY ARE LAUNCHED INTO PLEASURE LAKE.
Launch sites are located at the Clubhouse and
on the West Shore (between the dam and the hill)
Amended House Rule AO Adopted by Membership:
AO. All boats new to the lake (including guest boats which must bear the name of the member in 3 inch letters) must first be approved by the Board of Directors. For a boat previously used on any other lake or waterway, the member will be required to provide to the Board of Directors proof of steam cleaning of the used boat, or certify that the boat has been checked, cleaned and dried/disinfected in accordance with NYS Department of Environmental Conservation regulation 6 NYCRR Part 576 Aquatic Invasive Species Spread Prevention; in addition, every boat/watercraft (as well as equipment trailer) from another lake or waterway as well as any Pleasure Lake boat that has been stored anywhere outside Club property must be cleaned and inspected at the clubhouse cleaning station and the member must certify completion in the log prior to being launched into Pleasure Lake by members and/or third-parties in order to prevent the spread of any aquatic invasive species (AIS) in the Pleasure Lake environment. Our FF&BC Memorial Tribute area is a great place for members to remember a past member or loved one in a very special way here at Pleasure Lake.
A patio area with two stone benches has been constructed behind dam (southwest side), & it has been very well received by the members.
Engraved pavers can be purchased for only $50 to remember former members or loved ones who have passed away; those pavers will be mounted on the wall of the dam facing the new memorial patio and benches. We hope you agree that this is a tasteful and appropriate way to remember those who helped to make Pleasure Lake such a special place.
Feel free to click into our new Memorial Tributes page
on this website for more information.
NYS Law now also requires all people born in 1997 or after to hold a Boater's Certificate in order to operate a motorboat of any kind.
Please be sure to comply with these important laws to ensure your safety.
THANKS TO ALL OUR MEMBERS!!!
